My Hair Journey

My natural hair journey has been a long one. I started out in 2004. I decided that I wanted something different than what I saw everyday and something that would truly express me. At the time there weren't many with natural hair, and I was in high school searching for a new look. I decided I would go natural, but first I wore kinky twist to transition. In Oct. I cut my hair off, and it was lovely. However, I had so much to learn. In the first pictures that you'll see my hair was dyed many colors, I wasn't informed on product (except for moisturizer) and so much more. Take a look....

This was maybe a month or so after my Bc
Color, Color, and more color
I absolutely loved dying my hair. While I liked the look, I think my hair suffered.

I know this is a small picture, but here I have golden blonde on top and an auburn/ reddish in the back.

My first time getting my hair straightened.

As you can see that I decided to keep color but dye the front black to keep from dying my roots often.
Btw this is my basketball pic from my Jr. year of college
That same year I decided to go back black. even though it was still more color. lol

Straightened after going black.

Still no product here. Only a little moisturizer used on a twist out

Same here.

A wash and go using Cantu leave-in conditioner. That was the most I knew about natural hair products.

Straight by me.
At a Mardi Gras parade with my nephew. Still no product.

At a store in the French Quarter rocking a fro.

This time I flat ironed my hair a bit and used rollers to get a curl.

I discoverd Kinky- Curly products and fell in love!

Still new to the KCCC

Straightened by a stylist.

My trusty KCCC. I probably used Giovanni direct leave -in under  it.

You can see some growth here.

I was at the gun range, but it's a pretty good pic of my curls. lol

KCCC

Basketball hair. The ponytail holder is actually a big rubber band. I didn't think my hair was long enough for a real ponytail.
Basketball hair again.
A twist out on an old wash and go.

I cut bangs. My hair was well past my chin and I thought I wanted something different. I was wrong!

I tried to make a style of my unwanted bangs. KCCC again.

Basketball hair again! lol As you can see having natural hair definitely is a great thing when working out and sweating a lot.

It was game time. I loved my ponys.

Side pony with KCCC.

This was a Bantu Knot-out with KCCC

Once my hair began to grow I felt comfortable wearing hats.
I used a banana clip here

Going to a fashion show and a ball. (this is when I got engaged!)  I have KCCC and  Miss Jessie's curly pudding in.

Twisted up

Most recent flat iron.
Long Pony.

Most recent pic with damp hair. I used Knot-today and IC Fantasia Gel.

For the most part I use a variety of conditioners for co-washes. Hello Hydration, Pantene ProV,
Aussie Moist, Tressemme, and Giovonni are the usuals. I absolutely love KCCC. It's my favorite styling gel hands down. I've tried a couple of Miss Jessie's products, but my hair doesn't seem to like them much. I very rarely use heat. Only when I decided to go straight and in dire times when my hair is too wet to leave the house. I love wash and gos, but lately I've tried twist- outs, twist and curls, and bantu knot-outs. They give more curls and last long. I plan to try more styles using rollers, flexi rods, ect. and I'll be sure to share it with you guys! I hope you like the pictures and info on my journey. If you have any questions feel free to ask! Chow!
